Introduction to the College

The college was established in July 2019 through the merger and reorganization of the former College of Papermaking and the former College of Packaging and Printing Engineering. Currently, it offers 3 undergraduate programs, namely Light Chemical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, and Printing Engineering.

The college has 40 person-times of talents at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including national consulting experts, chair professors of the "High-Level Talents" program of the Ministry of Education, national candidates for the "Millions of Talents Project", National Young Changjiang Scholars, and Tianjin Municipal Distinguished Teachers. It has built 3 Tianjin Municipal-level teaching teams in Pulp and Paper Engineering, Packaging Engineering, and Printing Engineering.

The college holds the first-level discipline doctoral program in "Light Industry Technology and Engineering", the professional doctorate program in "Biology and Medicine", the postdoctoral research station in the first-level discipline of "Light Industry Technology and Engineering", the academic master's program in "Light Industry Technology and Engineering", and the professional master's program in "Materials and Chemical Engineering".

It owns scientific research platforms such as the National Key Laboratory of Bio-Based Fiber Materials, Tianjin Key Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Engineering, Key Laboratory of High-Performance Fiber Wet-Laid Nonwoven Materials of the Textile Industry, Key Laboratory of Papermaking and Biomass Refining of China National Light Industry Council, and Key Laboratory of Food Packaging Materials and Technology of China National Light Industry Council. In addition, it has teaching platforms including the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center for Packaging Engineering, Tianjin Municipal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Pulp and Paper Engineering, Tianjin Municipal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Packaging Engineering, and Tianjin Municipal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Printing Engineering.
