Led by Gou Junping (Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Light Industry Science and Engineering), Liu Hongbin (Dean), Jiang Huapeng (Deputy Secretary), and Liu Zehua (Vice Dean), the visiting teachers and students first gathered in the hall on the first floor of the laboratory building. Vice Dean Liu Zehua gave a detailed introduction to the college’s historical evolution, discipline development, and current status—with a particular focus on the development history of the pulp and paper engineering major. During the explanation, the teachers and students visited the Cooking Laboratory, Beating Laboratory, and Sheet-Making Laboratory, and personally experienced the entire process of converting wood into paper. Through Vice Dean Liu’s vivid explanation, the visiting teachers and students deepened their understanding of the key equipment and working principles of paper-making processes such as cooking, beating, and sheet-making, further comprehended China’s paper-making culture, and strengthened the spread and influence of paper culture among international students.

During the visit, Vice Dean Liu highlighted the college’s "cultural relic-level" equipment—a small fourdrinier paper machine made in Germany in the 1950s. This equipment is not only well-preserved but also still in normal operation. After learning about its history, the teachers and students expressed admiration for the college’s careful maintenance of the equipment and its profound professional heritage. At the end of the visit, Vice Dean Liu also personally instructed the students on how to use a rapid sheet former to make paper. During the production process, the students used gifts from nature in autumn—leaves and petals—to create unique paper products. While operating carefully, everyone not only felt the delicacy and sophistication of the paper-making process but also experienced the profound connotation of paper culture.

After the activity, the students held their own works, thanked the teachers of the College of Light Industry Science and Engineering one after another, and spoke highly of the profoundness and cultural charm of China’s paper-making technology. They stated that they had gained a lot from this activity, which greatly broadened their horizons.
